What is the difference between PC endurance board and PVC endurance board?
Currently, the two types of endurance boards commonly used in the market are PC endurance board and PVC endurance board. They differ in their base materials: the former is made of polycarbonate, while the latter is made of polyvinyl chloride. The properties of these two materials are also different, including their load-bearing capacity.
Since the density of PC endurance board is lower than that of PVC endurance board, and its continuous use temperature is higher than that of PVC board, its light transmittance performance is more outstanding. Although the sound insulation of PVC endurance board is also good, it is not resistant to aging, so it is not recommended for outdoor use. Overall, PC endurance board is an insulating material, while PVC endurance board is a polymer with good electrical properties. Their different properties lead to different applications.


Sunlight panel product characteristics:
(1) Light transmittance: The light transmittance of PC sunlight panels can reach up to about 89%, comparable to glass. UV-coated panels do not easily yellow, fog, or lose light transmittance when exposed to sunlight. After ten years, the light transmittance loss is about 10%, while PVC loss rate is 15%–20%, and fiberglass is about 12%–20%.
(2) Impact resistance: The impact strength is about 250–300 times that of ordinary glass, about 30 times that of acrylic panels of the same thickness, and about 2–20 times that of tempered glass. It is known as "unbreakable glass" and "sounding steel."
(3) UV protection: One side of the PC panel is co-extruded with an anti-ultraviolet (UV) coating, and the other side has anti-condensation treatment, combining UV resistance, heat insulation, and anti-fogging functions. It blocks ultraviolet rays from passing through, making it suitable for protecting valuable artworks and exhibits from UV damage.
(4) Lightweight: Its specific gravity is about half that of glass, saving costs for transportation, handling, installation, and support frameworks.
(5) Flame retardant: According to the standard GB50222—95, PC sunlight panels are classified as flame-retardant, i.e., B1 grade. The self-ignition point of PC panels is about 580°C, and they self-extinguish after being removed from fire. They do not produce toxic gases when burning and do not contribute to the spread of flames.
(6) Bendability: They can be cold-bent on-site according to design drawings to form arches, semi-circular roofs, and windows. The bending radius is about 175 times the panel thickness, and they can also be heat-bent.
(7) Sound insulation: PC sunlight panels have significant sound insulation effects, offering better acoustic insulation than glass and acrylic panels of the same thickness. Under the same thickness conditions, the sound insulation of PC sunlight panels is about 5–9 DB higher than that of glass. They are the material of choice for sound barriers on highways.
(8) Energy efficiency: Cool in summer and warm in winter, PC sunlight panels have a lower thermal conductivity (K-value) than ordinary glass and other plastics. Their heat insulation effect is about 7%–25% higher than that of glass of the same thickness, with heat insulation of up to about 49%. This significantly reduces heat loss, making them suitable for buildings with heating systems.
(9) Temperature adaptability: PC panels do not become brittle at -40°C and do not deform at 125°C. Their mechanical and physical properties remain largely unchanged even in harsh environments.
(10) Weather resistance: PC sunlight panels can maintain the stability of various physical indicators within a range of -40°C to 120°C. After 4,000 hours of artificial climate aging tests, the yellowing degree is 2, and the light transmittance reduction is about 0.6%.
(11) Anti-condensation: When the outdoor temperature is 0°C and the indoor temperature is 23°C, with indoor relative humidity below about 80%, the inner surface of the material does not condense. Condensation will flow along the surface of the panel and will not drip.
